Located on the legendary Foxen Canyon Wine Trail, Goodchild Vineyard is one of the foundational blocks that put the Santa Maria Valley on the global wine map.

Established by pioneering vintner Louis Lucas following his groundbreaking Tepusquet Vineyard, Goodchild continues the region’s legacy of world-class grape growing and winemaking.Planted in 1980, this was one of the first vineyards to demonstrate that cool-climate Chardonnay and Pinot Noir could thrive in this coastal corridor.

Offered at $2,995,000

“We weren’t sure what varietals would work. So we listened. We experimented. And we learned Chardonnay and Pinot loved this place.” Louis Lucas

With the acclaimed “High 9” block of clone 667 Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay blocks farmed for Lucas & Lewellen’s reserve program, Goodchild is a working model of terroir-matched excellence. It also became a primary source for clean vine cuttings across the region after being planted with UC Davis-certified virus-free stock.

“That vineyard made millions of cuttings. People came to us for clean stock. We knew if we farmed it right, it would give back.” – Louis Lucas

Eligible under Santa Barbara County’s Agricultural Enterprise Ordinance (AEO), Goodchild holds untapped potential for hospitality, tasting, or other agri-tourism ventures while continuing to supply premium fruit at scale.

“We didn’t just want to grow grapes. We wanted to grow the best grapes possible. So we farmed that way. Still do.” - Louis Lucas

Carrari Vineyard

Carrari Vineyard sits at the gateway to the Alisos Canyon AVA, where Rhône varietals and marine shale soils define one of California’s newest and most exciting AVAs.

Strategically positioned at Hwy 101 and Alisos Canyon Road, Carrari commands a rare mix of visibility, scale, and diversity. Originally planted by the Carrari family and refined by Louis Lucas, the vineyard includes Sangiovese (Brunello clone), Nebbiolo, Sauvignon Blanc, Malvasia Bianca, Syrah, Viognier, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, and Muscat Canelli, all chosen through decades of vineyard-to-varietal matching.

Offered at $4,750,000

“This vineyard was built like a symphony. A few rows of this, a block of that. You walk it, and it plays back in layers.” Louis Lucas

With mature vines from the 1970s and fresh plantings from the 2020s, Carrari is a multigenerational canvas that balances production and personality. Just minutes from Los Alamos’ vibrant wine and restaurant scene, the property qualifies for expanded commercial use under the AEO, making it ideal for estate growth or hospitality development.

“Carrari’s where we got creative. You don’t just plant Syrah and call it a day. You plant Syrah, then you go see what else this land wants to give you… we worked this land like it was a puzzle. The solution is this vineyard.” – Louis Lucas

In a historic first, a Chenin Blanc was awarded Best of Show—a notable win given the Central Coast’s reputation for Rhône and Bordeaux varietals. The honored wine was produced by Lucas & Lewellen Vineyards of Buellton.

“Each block here had a reason. Not a guess, a reason. That’s how we planted.” Louis Lucas

Despite its compact size, Ron’s packs outsized value with 23± acres of planted vines across a 27.87-acre parcel, a feat of agricultural efficiency. Its location along the Los Alamos wine trail and eligibility under the Agricultural Enterprise Ordinance make it especially attractive for boutique wineries or producers seeking a direct-to-consumer launchpad.

“Los Alamos is the great in-between. Not too cold, not too hot. That’s why the Italians love it here.” – Louis Lucas

Own the Legacy

Together, Goodchild, Carrari, and Ron’s represent the kind of vineyards that don’t come to market, they come with a moment. Backed by over 50 years of farming, family, and foresight, these properties offer not only proven terroir, but a rare chance to step into the lineage of one of California’s most enduring vineyard voices.

“I’m not sure who gets the land next. But I know it’ll speak to them, the way it spoke to me.” – Louis Lucas
